Both teams were strong on the mound on Wednesday, but thePumas defeated College of Southern Idaho 3-1. Connor McDonald started the game for the Pumas and recorded 10 outs.
A fielder's choice by Jude Almaraz put the Pumas on the board first in the bottom of the third. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the sixth when Matt Stewart to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs were able to score.
Aiden Woolwine earned the win for Paradise Valley. The hurler surrendered zero hits and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking one. McDonald, who started the game, gave up four hits and one run (zero earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one.
Keith Eusebio, Brayden Likar, Almaraz, and Jacob Lewis each collected one hit for the Pumas. Stewart led the team with one run batted in. Defensively, the Pumas turned one double play in the game.
The Pumas welcome Colorado Northwestern on Friday, January 30 for their next game.
