Women's Soccer faced a formidable opponent on the road Wednesday evening, falling 8–0 to NJCAA #6 Phoenix College in ACCAC action.

The Bears capitalized early and maintained pressure throughout the match, scoring three goals in the first half and five in the second. Despite the result, the Pumas found moments to challenge the nationally ranked Bears, recording five total shots — four of which were on target.

Head Coach Ernie Santa Cruz emphasized the value of the experience against such a high-level opponent.  "This was a tough game against a very good Phoenix College team," said Santa Cruz. "We'll take this experience and build on it. Matches like these help us grow and prepare us for the rest of the season."

Sophomore Diane Williams, and freshmen Karely Quinonez and Taralyn Roscoe were among those who registered shots on goal, showing attacking promise in transition play.

With the loss, the Pumas move to 1-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play. The Pumas now shift their focus to another key road test as they travel to Tucson to face Pima on Saturday, September 21. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:45pm.
