PUMAS OPEN CONFERENCE PLAY WITH SWEEP OF CHANDLER-GILBERT

Friday, March 6: PVCC 7, CGCC 6

The Pumas took Friday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 7-6 walk-off victory over Chandler-Gilbert. The Pumas were down 6-4 in the bottom of the ninth inning when Colton Figueroa tripled, scoring three runs.

Aiden Woolwine collected three hits in three at bats in the win. Woolwine singled in the second inning, singled in the sixth inning, and singled in the eighth inning.

Gavin Caldwell earned the win for the Pumas. The reliever surrendered zero hits and zero runs over one-third of an inning, striking out one and walking none. Keith Eusebio led things off on the mound for the Pumas. The pitcher allowed four hits and three runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking two. Connor McDonald and Noah Coakes each appeared in relief for Paradise Valley.

The Pumas piled up 11 hits in the game. Figueroa drove the middle of the lineup, the team with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-5 on the day. Coby Neville and Chris Quigg each collected multiple hits for the Pumas. Defensively, the team didn't commit a single error in the field. Matt Stewart had the most chances in the field with 13.

Saturday, March 7: PVCC 10, CGCC 4

Lucas Mitchell collected three hits in five at bats, as Paradise Valley defeated Chandler-Gilbert 10-4 on Saturday in game two of their series. Mitchell singled in the ninth inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the second inning.

The Pumas were the first to get on the board in the fourth when Mitchell singled, scoring one run.

Grey Gusich earned the win for the Pumas. The starter surrendered two hits and zero runs over five and one-third innings, striking out five and walking three. Mason Lizarraga tossed two innings of no-run ball for the Pumas in relief. The left-handed pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking two.

The Pumas accumulated 16 hits in the game. Coby Neville and Mitchell each collected three hits and drove in two runs for the Pumas. Keith EusebioAiden WoolwineJude Almaraz, and Matt Stewart each collected multiple hits for team. Defensively, the Pumas turned one double play in the game.

The Pumas travel to Tucson, AZ on Tuesday, February 10 where they will face Pima Community College in a double header.
